2012 Nissan Rogue priced from $21,530
Customers may also choose to add one of the three optional goodies pack, including the Special Edition, Premium Package and SL Package. The first one is new for 2012. It sells for $1200 and its new features include 16-inch alloy rims, XM Satellite Radio, and an audio system with a 4.3-inch display and USB connectivity.The changes for the 2012 model year include a Sport Mode switch, fresh alloy rims and Graphite Blue as a new exterior color. All of the models are powered by the 170 hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which is coupled to an xTronic CVT gearbox.

Bugatti Galibier on hold because it’s not too impressive!
Originally, the proposal for the concept car was for it to target 800hp but Durheimer isn’t contented with this output. A source said that Durheimer doesn’t want to build this car until there’s no arguing that it is the best car in the world.
Durheimer had supposedly said that it doesn’t have enough power, space, and comfort, particularly in the rear, according to InsideLine. He said that tuners can provide 800hp and as it doesn’t want its car to be involved in talks related to tuners, the benchmarks have to be moved.[via : 4wheelsnews]

Bmw announces record sales in August 2011
The August volumes were boosted by the more-than-double increase of BMW X3 mid-sized SUV and a 39 percent increase in 5-series sales. The core brand of BMW achieved sales of 94,882 units last month and was able to be on top of rival Audi, sales of which increased 17 percent to 94,100 in the same period. On the other hand, Mercedes achieved a sales gain of 7.9 percent to 87,384 units. Total sales of BMW Group units including the Mini and Rolls-Royce brands gained 16.8 percent from January to August this year to 1.07 million vehicles.
Also last month, the group's Mini brand sold 15,761 units, an increase of 5.2 percent. From January unit August, Mini sales have grown by 24.8 percent to 177,829 units, thanks to the launch of new models. In the United States, which is the company’s largest market, BMW Group car sales in August dropped marginally at 23,924 units, a decrease of 41 units from 2010 figures. However, in its home country Germany, which is BMW's second largest market, group sales leaped to 23,250 units, or 60.3 percent. On the contrary, sales in China, which is the company’s third biggest market, increased just 8.7 percent in the same period to 18,462 units.[via - 4wheelsnews]

Swedish Automobile shares plunged as Saab doesn’t get protection from creditors
Yesterday, a court in Sweden ruled against the automaker’s request for protection from creditors, increasing the risk that the vehicle manufacturer is headed for bankruptcy as workers and suppliers seek the money that is due them. The Vaenersborg district court ruled rejected the petition for a voluntary reorganization that the automaker filed on September 7 in a proposal to win time to increase funds to restart operations and to avoid a bankruptcy petition. On Friday, Saab stated that it will be appealing the ruling on Monday.
Saab’s union representatives, who are seeking payment of wages from last month, are watching the situation closely prior to making a decision whether to seek a bankruptcy application aimed at obtaining state funds to pay workers. Per Branneby, who leads Saab's engineering union, mentioned in a phone interview that they are likely to take action only together with other unions. The engineering union at Saab has around 500 members. On the other hand, members of the biggest union of Saab with around 1,500 members -- IF Metall -- are meeting everyday to talk about the situation, spokesman Lars Ankarfjall disclosed. The union intends to "wait a few days" prior to making action, but does not rule out making a decision sooner, he added.[via : 4wheelsnews]
First 100mph Rolls-Royce to lead the way at the London to Edinburgh Top Gear Trial
For the Edwardian cars, the 1911 RAC-observed London to Edinburgh Trial was a major test. The Trial permitted Rolls-Royce to demonstrate the economy, performance and flexibility of the Silver Ghost, specifically when it is compared to arch rival the Napier. Meanwhile, it expanded the vehicle’s appeal to a sportier and younger clientele, without preventing the traditional upper-class customers that was Rolls-Royce production’s mainstay at that time.
The RAC observers ensured that only the highest quality gear was utilized, including pulling away from standstill, which was quite an achievement 100 years ago prior to metalled roads and motorways. There was no other vehicle at that time that could rival Rolls-Royce achievement, with 1701 driving from London to Edinburgh and back using top gear only and with fuel consumption average of more than 24mpg. To attest that the original chassis had a normal back axle ratio and that the vehicle had obtained no mechanical alteration, the unit was then driven at Brooklands in which it achieved more than 78mph. Later on when the 1701 was fitted with a ‘wind-cheating’ single-seat body, a speed of 101mph over the flying half-mile at Brooklands driven by E.W. Hives was recorded. Hives was eventually fated to be Chairman of the Rolls-Royce company.[via - 4wheelsnews]
