Lotus Evora GTE also coming to the European market

Instead of limiting sales of the Lotus Evora GTE in Asia, it will also be offered in Europe. Set to be displayed at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, this 440bhp vehicle takes inspiration from racing. The initial plan had been for this model to be a special limited edition of only 25 cars for buyers in China. However, the vehicle received a lot of positive feedback that made the company decide to expand its plans. Dany Bahar, the chief of Group Lotus, said that there had been an “incredible” response, having sold out within days and receiving 114 orders.

He said that Lotus determined that the next logical step would be to raise output and extend its reach. The official unveiling of the Evora GTE took place last month at the Pebble Beach Coucours d’Elegance in California. Powering this vehicle is a 3.5-litre V6 Toyota engine coupled to a sequential AMT racing gearbox. When compared to the standard Evora, the Evora GTE is lighter by 105kg due to the use of carbonfibre for the revised bodywork like the front and rear bumpers, rear wing and doors.

Lotus will also be displaying three other new models at the Frankfurt show. The Elise S is one of the three. It is the replacement for the discontinued Elise SC and is powered by a new 1.8-litre, 200bhp supercharged engine. It offers more torque, a better throttle response and lower emissions rating than the outgoing model. Nothing much has been revealed about the other two cars. Lotus described one to be among its fastest road cars. The other is said to mark the return of Lotus to “another motorsport discipline.”[via - 4wheelsnews]
