It has been reported that Mercedes-Benz will be presenting a new roadster that will be positioned under the SLK. Go Auto said that the company has grand plans for the development of this vehicle, which will likely have the SLA designation (previously used on a Mercedes concept that was unveiled in 2000). This roadster may arrive in the market as early as 2013.
The vehicle will be built on the MFA platform, which means that it will get front-wheel-drive.
It’s expected to feature the powerplant to be used on the future A- and B-Class. It’s likely to be offered with either a turbocharged 1.6-liter petrol unit or a 1.8-liter diesel. These two engines will be coupled to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.[via - 4wheelsnews]
