2012 Toyota Yaris will have the Touch & Go infotainment system

Toyota announced that its bestselling vehicle in Europe, the 2012 Yaris subcompact hatchback, will have the Touch & Go infotainment system that will mark the car model as a "breakthrough in its segment for affordable multimedia connectivity." The company also stated that 95 percent of Yaris sales will have this system as a standard. The Touch & Go has a 6.1-inch display with touchscreen capability. It also offers mobile apps, connected services and navigation. Earlier this year, the system debuted on the company's Verso-S compact minivan.

The Yaris, which is sold as the Vitz in Japan, comprises 55,030 of the company's 219,789 units sold in Europe in the first four months based on the data from JATO Dynamics. In September, the third-generation Yaris will be placed on sale. It will be manufactured in the company's Valenciennes plant in France, which also builds the current car. Compared to the current Yaris, the new model is 100mm longer at 3890mm. The company stated that the new model is spacious inside even with its compact size.

Its interior is made of high quality materials with a driver-focused cockpit. Buyers of this vehicle will have three choices for its engine: a 1.4-liter diesel, a 1.0-liter gasoline or a 1.3 liter gasoline unit. A gasoline-electric hybrid variant will launch in the middle of 2012. Didier Leroy, the CEO of Toyota Europe, stated that the new Yaris reflects the company's strongest offer yet in the key subcompact segment. He added that the company is confident that the new model can build on Yaris' previous success and that it will boost Toyota's presence in the European market. He also stated that this new model will bring the company toward 1 million sales each year in the region over the medium term. [via - 4wheeslnews]
