The team supporting the EVCUP will be launching the iRACER during the EcoVelocity low-carbon motor festival next month at the Battersea Power Station of London. The EVCUP is the first circuit racing series exclusively in the world that features zero-emission electric cars. The race series organizers will soon disclose the definitive specifications and look of the iRACER, which is a track-focused EV, engineered and designed from scratch as a pure race vehicle. It will compete in the “Sports EV” category of the series which gets underway in California this November.
The iRACER is added to the array of the world’s most stunning environmental-friendly vehicle that will be displayed at the show’s green supercar paddock. Giles Brown, EcoVelocity event director, commented that the EVCUP has already produced a massive stir in the world of motoring since it was launched, and that they are pleased to welcome it at EcoVelocity. He added that having the EVCUP is extremely positive and emphasizes the fact that greener motoring is very much on the motor racing agenda these days.
In addition, EVCUP Managing Director Sylvain Filippi added that they are very excited at the possibility of launching the iRacer. He stated further that they are delighted to take part in EcoVelocity, an event that highlights the importance of driving greener, cleaner vehicles in urban environments. In November, the EVCUP will kick off in the United States with two race events in California, specifically at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on November 26 and at the Auto Club Speedway on the December 17, prior to a full series launch next year. EcoVelocity will run on September 8 -11 at Battersea Power Station, featuring the latest green model units such as hybrid, electric and low CO2-emitting vehicles. The event will allow test drives on a specially-constructed circuit under the aegis of the well-known power station.[via - 4wheelsnews]
