The 2011 BusinessCar Fleet Technology Awards recognized Fiat’s TwinAir engine for being the cleanest engine on the market while still maintaining its exciting appeal. The TwinAiR, Fiat’s 0.9-litre two cylinder engine, was named as the Current International Engine of the Year 2011. The awards, which are known as ‘The Techies’, identify and reward technological success. Paul Barker, Group Editor, BusinessCar, said that a Highly Commended entrant isn’t given to each category, stating that it only comes up when more than one deserve the award.
The TwinAir, when used on the Fiat 500, can go from zero to 62mph in 11 seconds, while its maximum speed is at 108mph. It offers the lowest CO2 emissions of any quantity production petrol engine with a rating of 95g/km, together with 68.9mpg economy (combined cycle).
The TwinAir range comes in both 500 (hatchback) and 500C (convertible) versions and will only be offered in bright colors like Pearlescent Red, Tropicalia Yellow and Electroclash Grey. Midnight Black is a special color that’s only offered on the TwinAir Plus model.[via : 4wheelsnews]
