2012 Lincoln MKS, MKT to make their debut by the end of the year

Ford is expected to begin massive revisions to the Lincoln products for the 2012 model year. The transformation of Ford’s often-criticized Lincoln brand may start to take place at the end of the year. Sources say that Lincoln will start with overhauling the looks of existing products. Sources say that the MKS sedan (which was launched four years ago) will be given a mid-cycle update that will debut by the end of the year, most likely at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

There have been several disguised MKT prototypes spied in the metropolitan Detroit area, which suggests that it will have a makeover in the same time frame. But what has gotten fans all excited is what’s expected for Lincoln’s MKZ. It is rumored that an all-new model will arrive in showrooms in 2013, but an improved variant is scheduled to be unveiled as a concept car early next year.

From previous reports, we know that the MKZ will be built on a platform that was also used on the Ford Fusion and the next-generation European Mondeo. However, the appearance of the Lincoln variant will be very different from its siblings. Lincoln declined to comment on the report and would only say that the MKS and MKZ “have been on the market for a while.”[via - 4wheelsnews]
